This article was harder to write than I imagined it was going to be.
When you remove the slogans and spin, when you honestly reflect on the culture that is, rather than the culture you would like to have, then you are left at a vulnerable place – do people really behave in a way that will enable goal attainment and success, are they creating value or just turning up.
Strategy, systems, processes and products are all important, but nothing moves the dial as much as culture. As the wonderful Tom Peters says, get the culture right and nearly any strategy will get you where you want to go
